ABOUT MAHU MUTTS...
OUR APPROACH
Mahu Mutts takes a completely force-free approach to working with dogs. This means that we encourage, reinforce and reward behaviour we are looking to bring out in the dog and we remove privileges and triggers so the dog makes smarter choices. Reward based positive reinforcement makes training a mutually enjoyable experience and builds trust between you and your dog. We see ourselves as deeply connected to our community and doing what we can in supporting local people and their furry friends. We are committed to helping the rescues of the Wairarapa which is why we offer free walks and training for local foster dogs and their fosterers. Keep updated with our regular community outreach on our facebook page.
LIBBY WORKMAN
AKA LIPPY
Originally based in Auckland, I founded Mahu Mutts in 2021 with a focus on dog enrichment and providing a dog walking service that catered to reactive dogs. This environment allowed me to grow my own education and pursue more knowledge about dog behaviour and evidence-based training techniques. With years of hands-on experience working with rescue dogs and a deep understanding of science-backed methods, I’ve developed a unique ability to create positive, fear-free training experiences that help dogs overcome challenges and form stronger bonds with their owners. My real-world experience has been invaluable in helping dogs thrive in their forever homes. In 2024, I relocated to the Wairarapa with my wife, two dogs, my cat and three chickens and relaunched Mahu Mutts with a broader, more flexible range of services. I am committed to continuous learning and growth in this industry, and I hope to never stop evolving as a trainer. I have an exceptional, innate understanding of dogs and am able to assess each situation from the dog’s point of view. This allows me to implement techniques that encourage the dog to make the right choices, redirect behaviour in a more positive way, or simply create a management plan to regulate the household's needs. My goal is to equip owners with the tools they need to train and live harmoniously with their dogs, while also helping them understand the science behind the methods being used. I pride myself on my down-to-earth and jargon-free approach.I hold a Pet First Aid Certificate and am committed to staying up to date with the latest training techniques. If you think I’m the right fit for you and your dog, get in touch today for a free, no-obligation meet and greet.
